Biomass power generation solutions

If a site has a by-product or waste available as part of its normal operations and the business on that site requires power, then the most carbon-friendly and economical way of reducing the waste or using the by-product is through installing a biomass plant that can generate power to meet the location requirements.

OUR SOLUTION: Where a client has a potential fuel resource Perpetual Energy will undertake a site Feasibility Study to identify the possible opportunity for power generation. That study will include consideration of the fuel available, the specification, volumes, energy demands at the site, and possible connections to grid and supply infrastructure. If that study proves positive then we will progress a Detailed Design Study to determine the optimum size of power generation plant and the type of generation plant best suited to the fuel available.

GENERATION OPTIONS: For small scale generation (below 2MWe):

We are working with equipment suppliers to provide modular, portable and proven equipment that can burn a wide range of fuels to generate power in a plant that can be remotely monitored and operated at low cost. Our proposed system would combine conventional combustion technology with proven yet advanced heat to power conversion technology (Organic Rankine Cycle Generators) to gain optimum power generation efficiency.

Illustrated below is the typical layout of this plant:

For Large Scale Generation (more than 2MWe)

Above 2MWe we will happily look at installing conventional steam generation plant that includes moving grates, bubbling and circulating fluidised bed combined to condensing steam turbines. Again we will work with credible equipment suppliers to deliver fully integrated biomass power stations. The layouts of which would be similar to that indicated below:
